About Me

I am a writer by trade and am interested in how technology shapes the human experience. I believe in simplicity, clear prose, and clean design. I also have a background in social anthropology.

As far as blogging goes, I’ve been writing my whole life. In 2003 I made the transition from paper to the internet. Times change and audiences change and everybody’s first presence on the internet is somewhat painful.

But for posterity’s sake, here is the history of my online musings:

My first site was a Geocities site. Geocities has since closed down, but I managed to rescue my site and host it on another server. Be warned, this is seriously old-school:

Negotiating Reality

In 2003, I started blogging about my experiences teaching English in South Korea on LiveJournal:

Dawndream

The lost blog - somewhere around 2006, I ran a blog, but the free server I was hosting it on deleted it (bastards!). It sort of lives on in the Internet Archives:

wordspace

From 2007 to 2011 I ran a self-hosted Wordpress blog which I dearly loved before I realized the days of traditional blogging were over:

Old Wordbit

I also have a Private blog because I’ve learned to keep my public and private life separate on the interwebs - if you know me in person you’ll need to ask me for the password :)

My professional presence has moved to my online portfolio at vancouverwriter.ca.

So there you have it - a history of my online presence. I’ve just taken all the hard work out of stalking me.
